i read the concept of dumpster diving.First I will Explain it then I will tell you how to prevent it actual to save information important data of your company.

In real world its mean Searching the trash.In information technology, dumpster diving is a technique used to retrieve information that could be used to carry out an attack on a computer network.

Dumpster diving is not limited to searching only through the trash. Treasures like access codes or passwords written down on sticky notes. Often innocent information like a phone list, calendar, or organizational chart can be used to assist an attacker using social engineering techniques to gain access to the network. As I mentioned earlier every information leads to some data.

In a 2015 research its Estimated that in Every 10 tries . there is 6 probabilities you will get useful information it is very high number of percentage. but now good companies are smarter enough. Percentage should be reduced.





So How to Prevent it?

Its very Simple to prevent dumpster divers from learning anything valuable from your trash, experts state that your company should make a disposal policy where all paper, including print-outs, is shredded in a cross-cut shredder before being recycled, all storage media is erased, and all staff is educated about the danger of tracked trash.Seminar should be conducted if possible.
